Teaching, Supervision and Consultation
From supervising psychiatric residents in family therapy on an inpatient psychiatric unit to helping beginning therapists find their way to consulting with seasoned clinicians who are working with highly dissociated clients, I have been supervising, consulting and teaching my entire career. An enthusiastic learner who is continually improving my skills, I am involved in all aspects of the learning process. Rather than seeing myself solely as an expert dispensing wisdom, I view the process of learning as one of the joy of discovery. Sometimes the learning is about facts and reading articles, sometimes it is practicing a new skill, sometimes it is a necessary self-reflective process and sometimes it is about the relationship between myself and the consultee. The breadth of my clinical and teaching experience make me a good choice for someone who wants to improve their clinical skills in a safe and lively environment or for an institution who needs consultation. I consult individually and in groups.
Experienced at workshop presentations, I presented at ISSTD's yearly conference on eating disorders and dissociation as well as at the Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders' yearly conference. The three year course of study at ISSTD, which I teach, is an extensive and demanding program detailing issues regarding trauma, attachment, PTSD and dissociation. I have also taught courses on eating disorders, family therapy, cognitive behavioral treatment and recreational therapy.
